Red Maple Trees at West Halls
West Halls Quad
The West Halls area was constructed in a traditional collegiate residence style. Brick buildings open onto a quad with symmetrical walkways and arches that lead to the heart of campus. Room accommodations include regular double, small double, and triple rooms.
View sample room dimensions for each building (measurements are approximate, size and shape of rooms vary, floor plans not to scale):
- Hamilton, McKee, Thompson regular double
- Hamilton, McKee, Thompson single
- Irvin regular double
- Jordan regular double
- Watts regular double
Hamilton, McKee, Thompson, and Watts are designated coed on the floor - both genders are assigned to sections of the floor and each gender has a designated restroom to use on the floor.
Irvin and Jordan are designated coed by floor - one gender is assigned to a floor, with genders varying by floor. There is one bathroom per floor.
Waring Commons offers students a computer lab, commons desk, a classroom, cultural lounge, and West Halls Residence Association. Hungry students can visit the West Food District, which offers the Waring Square food court and the West Wing (á la carte sandwiches, subs, salads, sushi, and desserts). Also located in Waring Commons is the organic and all-natural Sisu Store and Coffee Bar.
With Pattee Library and Paterno Library to the east and the Recreation Building (Rec Hall) to the west, the West Halls residence area is just a short walk away from many of Penn State’s learning and sports facilities. And our famous Nittany Lion Shrine is in a wooded area within view of the halls!
