Penn State offers a Special Living Option (SLO) for students interested in living with others who share common interests and goals.

Mont Alto currently offers the Discover House.

This SLO is designed to provide students with the opportunity to live in a specific learning community environment designated for first-year students who have not yet decided on a major.

Students will attend career-oriented programs (1 program required per semester) and meet with their academic advisor (twice per semester). Discover House students will be placed in the same English course (ENGL 015), Effective Speech (CAS 100), and a First-Year Seminar course. Residence Life also works closely with these students, providing them with information about options and resources available to them.
