Card
Access
Each residence hall is equipped with an electronic,
computerized card access system that utilizes your id+
card to gain entry to outside entrance doors, individual bedroom doors, and bathrooms (Mont Alto hall only). The residence halls are locked 24
hours a day, seven days a week. Only building residents
can gain access by swiping their cards through the card
reader. Your id+ card will only work on the building
in which you live. Each resident has a unique 4-digit pin number required to enter their bedroom door.
Your
id+ card is an important part of your life at Penn State.
It is essential that you do not share your card with
others. If your card is lost or stolen, deactivate your
services immediately online
or by contacting Housing and Food Services. There is
a replacement fee, so be cautious when using your card
and be sure you know where it is at all times.
Room
Safety
Your room door will be locked at all times, so you must carry your Penn State id+ Card at all times to return into your bedroom. Do not prop open your bedroom door, even
if just making a short trip to the bathroom or visiting
a friend down the hall. You may lock personal possessions
in your desk drawer; however, you must supply your own
padlock. If you lose your ID+ card, report it immediately
to Housing and Food Services.
Personal
Property Insurance
The University is not responsible for loss or damage
to your personal possessions. Therefore, we strongly
encourage you to have personal property insurance. You
should document your personal possessions in case of
damage or loss during your stay at Penn State.
